چکیده

Erythrocyte structure and function depend upon interactions between proteins in and associated with the membrane, centered around band 3. This protein harbours physiological removal signals and, as a main component of the links between the cytoskeleton and the lipid bilayer, plays a central role in deformability. Also, as a binding partner of hemoglobin and key glycolysis enzymes, band 3 is the link between the oxygendependent trade-off between ATP production and NADPH-mediated protection against oxidative damage. Phosphorylation of band 3 by Lyn and Syk kinases is involved in the regulation of these processes.

An overview of Neurodegeneration with brain iron accumulation (NBIA) syndromes and the disease status in Iranian population: review article

Neurodegeneration with brain iron accumulation (NBIA) is a rare set of inherited neurodegenerative disorders with abnormal accumulation of iron in basal ganglia. It is a clinically and genetically heterogeneous disorder that is characterized by movement disorders, dystonia, dysarthria, Parkinsonism, intellectual disability, and spasticity. The age at onset varies from childhood to adulthood and...

A Novel Nonsense mutation in PANK2 Gene in Two Patients with Pantothenate Kinase-Associated Neurodegeneration

Pantothenate kinase- associated neurodegeneration (PKAN) syndrome is a rare autosomal recessive disorder characterized by progressive extrapyramidal dysfunction and iron accumulation in the brain and axonal spheroids in the central nervous system. It has been shown that the disorder is caused by mutations in PANK2 gene which codes for a mitochondrial enzyme participating in coenzyme A biosynthe...

Case Report: Hallervorden–Spatz Syndrome with Seizures

Hallervorden-Spatz syndrome is a disorder characterized by dystonia, parkinsonism, and iron accumulation in the brain. The disease is caused by mutations in gene encoding pantothenate kinase 2 (PANK2) and patients have pantothenate kinase-associated neurodegeneration. We present an 8-year-old boy with progressive muscle dystonia, neuroregression, frequent fall and multiple injur...

Reliability and Validity of Bedside Version of Persian WAB (P-WAB-1)

Introduction: In this study, we reported the reliability and validity of Bedside version of Persian WAB (P-WAB-1) adapted from Western Aphasia Battery (WAB-R)1,2. P-WAB-1 is a clinical linguistic measuring tool to determine severity and type of aphasia in brain damaged patients based on Aphasia Quotient (AQ) as a functional measure. For the purposes of a quick clinical screening of aphasia in...

Effect of Potassium and Iron on Berries Resveratrol and Viniferin Accumulation and Antioxidant Capacity of ‘Bidaneh Sefid’ Grape (Vitis vinifera L.) Cultivar

Nutrition management in growth season has a main effect on production and accumulation of secondary metabolites in grapevine berries. In this research the effects of foliar application of potassium sulfate (K; 0, 1.5, and 3%) and iron chelate (Fe; 0, 0.5, and 1%) on accumulation of resveratrol and viniferin and antioxidant capacity of ‘Bidaneh Sefid’ grape berries was evaluated. This study was ...
